Benjamin Disraeli on the Secret of Success

"One secret of success in life is for a man to be ready for his opportunity when it comes." -Benjamin Disraeli

About Benjamin Disraeli

Benjamin Disraeli, KG, PC, FRS, the 1st Earl of Beaconsfield was a leading British statesman of the 19th century. He served Queen Victoria’s government for three decades, twice as the Prime Minister. He was notable for being a major figure of the Conservative Party, and is actually considered to be a major contributor to the formation of the modern Conservative Party. He was also a literary figure, having written and published numerous fiction and non-fictional novels even when he was active in his political office. Though he mainly wrote romances, he also wrote in the field of social issues, like the two of his best known works, “Sybil” and “Vivien Grey.”

Explanation

There is a related saying that says that opportunity comes only once—and once it passes through it might never come back again. Therefore, opportunity should be taken the moment it presents itself in to you. Many successful men had done that, they had seized the opportunity when it came in to them. After all, failing to grab opportunity is a failure in itself. Many a people had inadvertently let opportunity to slip away just because they never recognized it—or they never thought that it would guise itself like that. A man who knows how to grab opportunity, who knows when to grab it, is the one more likely to succeed in his endeavours. Vigilance about these matters is important, and one should be ready for opportunity never announces it arrival, nor would it guise itself in an obvious manner.
